Kuala Lumpur, 5th October 2023: The highly anticipated IFN Asia Forum, organized by IFN (Islamic Finance news), commenced its 18th edition, reaffirming its position as the premier business event for Islamic finance professionals worldwide with CIMB Islamic as the lead partner and the IsDB as the multilateral strategic partner.
The event commenced with a keynote address delivered by Adnan Zaylani Mohamad Zahid, the former assistant governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, and the first discussion, titled ‘Key Strategic Economic Drivers in Southeast Asia: The Islamic Economy and the Islamic Financial Services Industry’, focused on Malaysia’s top-down and ‘Islamic first’ strategy and discussed the role of Islamic finance in the development of the Halal economy.
The second roundtable discussion, titled ‘Blueprint for the Future: An Ecosystem for the Successful Development & Distribution of Islamic Financial Services’, explored the design, development, and distribution of digital Islamic financial services and discussed the regional and scalable opportunities for digital Islamic financial offerings while exploring the role of technology in facilitating banking products for the underserved and untapped segments such as the young, SMEs, and B2B markets.
The conference also featured discussions on ‘Centre of Excellence: Malaysia as a Centre for Innovative Islamic Financial Markets and Structured Finance Products’, as well as ‘Positioning Malaysia as a Leader in Ethical and Shariah Compliant Asset and Investment Management’. Lastly, the event featured ‘Alternative Funding, Digital Marketplace Financing, and the Development of Digital Assets’, which focused on blueprints for advancing the transition to a low-carbon economy via effective stakeholder collaboration, regulation, resource allocation, positioning, and product innovation in the Omani financial services sector.
