The late Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel, Iqbal Khan, Dr Abdul Halim, Professor Rifaat Ahmed Abdel Karim and Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz — these are some of the most outstanding luminaries of Islamic finance whose unparalleled contributions to the industry have earned them the highly prestigious The Royal Award for Islamic Finance. Now, the organizing committee for The Royal Award for Islamic Finance is looking for its sixth recipient.
First bestowed in 2010 and running biennially since, the Royal Award for Islamic Finance is jointly organized by Bank Negara Malaysia and the Securities Commission Malaysia in support of Malaysia Islamic Finance Marketplace and is presented by the King of Malaysia.
The award recipient is selected through a rigorous process comprising a global call for nominations and selection by an international jury of eminent individuals, Shariah scholars, academicians and finance practitioners who evaluate each nominee based on their ground-breaking achievements, enduring legacy and pioneering contributions toward advancing the global Islamic finance industry.
This year, the organizing committee has also unveiled the addition of two new prizes: the Emerging Leader Prize and the Impact Challenge Prize. The introduction of these new prizes speaks volume about the evolving Islamic finance landscape and the organizing committee’s commitment toward recognizing new classes of trailblazers shaping the future of Islamic finance.
The Emerging Leader Prize celebrates young international talents who have contributed significantly to the advancement of innovative ideas in Islamic finance for at least half a decade. The Impact Challenge Prize recognizes digital and innovative solutions that are based on Shariah principles or are Islamic finance enablers which consequentially enhance economic and social resilience of financially impacted communities globally. The inaugural Impact Challenge Prize is a collaboration with the World Bank Group Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Finance Hub in Malaysia which is acting as a technical partner and supported by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation with 1337 Ventures as the virtual accelerator program provider.
The committee is receiving nominations for the 2022 Royal Award for Islamic Finance and new prizes until the 25th March 2022. Further information can be found at https://www.theroyalaward.com. For enquiries, please write in to [email protected].
