UAE: Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) and Eiffel Management, a French property firm have introduced Emirates REIT, the first Shariah compliant real estate investment trust to fuel growth in the country’s real estate market. The joint venture aims to attract Shariah compliant properties and convert rental income into dividends for investors, said Adnan Chilwan, chief of retail banking at DIB. Eighty percent of the REIT’s annual profit will be distributed to shareholders as dividends.
