UAE: Emaar Properties has recorded a second quarter loss of AED1.3 billion (US$351 million), a 161% drop from the AED2.12 billion (US$577 million) in the same period last year. The fall is  due to the writedown of the full value of its US subsidiary, John Laing Homes, amounting to AED1.73 billion (US$471 million). This is the firm’s second loss after it posted a AED1.77 billion (US$482 million) loss in the fourth quarter, also due to writedowns in its US unit.....
