PAKISTAN: Silkbank has recorded an increase in deposits to PKR70.85 billion (US$654.78 million) for the third quarter, ended 30th September 2013. The growth was supplemented by a hike in gross advances by PKR3.37 billion (US$31.14 million). The bank also reported loss of PKR259 million (US$2.39 million) after tax, attributed to various industry-wide provisions affecting the banking industry. Silkbank recently expanded its Islamic window, Emaan Islamic Banking by opening three new branches, bringing its presence to 33 cities across the country.
