INDONESIA: Irfan Syauqi Beik, professor of Islamic economics at the faculty of economics and management at Bogor Agricultural University, has urged the country’s Islamic banking system to increase agricultural financing.
He said the disbursement of agricultural financing in Indonesia has not been in line with the increase in Islamic deposits.
Beik attributed the lack of this financing to Islamic bankers not understanding the potential business opportunities in the agricultural sector.
